As you may know, forecourt fuel is moving from E5 to E10, from 5% ethanol to 10% ethanol.
This is part of the green agenda to reduce CO2 emissions; agree or disagree with man-made climate change, this change to our furl has happened.
What is ethanol and why is it bad for your lawnmowers and other garden machinery engines?
Ethanol is an alcohol-based fuel produced from the fermentation of a range of plants. but ethanol causes corrosion to fuel components and attracts water. It can block your small passageways and jets in your carburettor causing all sorts of engine issues. Its corrosive properties can even erode parts of your engine away.
What we suggest
While you can use super unleaded fuel from forecourts which may still only contain 5% ethanol (keep an eye on this) or we recommend a fuel called Aspen. Even the 5% ethanol that we have had for years has given us much trouble with customers’ carburettors.
Aspen contains no ethanol, will stay fresh for up to 5 years, emits 99% less toxic emissions and ultimately prolongs machinery life.
We can supply you with Aspen for your 4-stroke as a state replacement for forecourt petrol or for your 2-stroke machinery as a ready-to-use fuel and oil mix.
Our friends in the USA have made a test of all the top “engendered fuels” they have available, and Aspen does very well.
